increase its chances 💡

onto today’s topic: you can’t force an idea 💡

you can’t just sit in front of a whiteboard and hope an idea for a new project or unicorn startup will pop up in your brain. ideas very rarely come when you want it to.

the best ideas strike seemingly randomly; however, it’s not that variable — they spark when we notice anomalies, inefficiencies or gaps in our daily lives.

if you really want to start something of your own, it probably feels like a gamble to just wait for an idea to come to you. 🕰️ well, i don’t believe waiting is the correct approach either.

the easiest way to notice opportunities to build something people need is to be present. maybe you’ve had a similar conversation about an annoying recruiting process from 5 different friends. that’s a pain point to explore.

nothing ever clicks like magic. if you want to build, you need to dig for the root cause of a problem so you can then intervene. 🩹 if you just build a bandaid, it’ll get replaced asap. don’t brush off your own observations of the world. explore and validate them with more conversations and research.

you can’t force an idea, but you sure can increase the probability of something coming to mind. (:
