onto today’s topic: you have the tools to learn anything 🧠

one of chatgpt’s best use-cases is the ability to teach yourself literally anything. before llm’s became commonplace, picking up a new skill meant one or more of the following (or some variation):

1) binging youtube tutorials

2) signing up for an online course / in-person lessons

3) hiring a tutor or teacher of some form 👩‍🏫

4) reading textbooks/documentation

5) scrappily piecing together different online guides

you had to hope context and tutorial-like resource existed somewhere in the world. if you’re trying to build a particularly niche app or learn an uncommon skill, this was even harder because those tutorials tend to be extremely generalized to an entire topic.

now? you can generate a step-by-step personalized tutorials within minutes and make tangible progress towards your goals. rather than the bottom-up approach of learning every little thing, chatgpt lets you take a top-down approach where you can learn what is necessary to build or learn something. 📐

of course, if you want to become a field-expert, this probably isn’t the correct method, but it certainly serves as a solid starting point. i rarely find myself looking up youtube tutorials or courses now — instead, i’ll prompt gpt to give me a rundown of the necessary context and practice required to learn a particular skill.

whether it’s setting up a fastapi server, or adjusting my gym split to meet my goals, it’s a powerful tool that can catalyze learning across any aspect of your life. it’s more than a website that can spit out homework answers — make good use of it!
