onto todayâs topic: celebrity obsession đ¸
iâve been asked before about my celebrity crush or favourite actor, but i draw a blank every single time. i donât keep up with celebrities or influencers of any sort to that extent â the most iâve done is follow my favourite music artists on instagram and go to their concerts.
you wonât ever catch me scrolling through personal details or dropping everything to watch a new piece of celebrity content. you certainly wonât find me starting a fan account for x celebrity on instagram. đ
this follows the same train of thought as a previous post i wrote on not idolizing anyone, especially not someone that doesnât know i even exist. of course, some celebrities can be a source of inspiration and motivation but becoming an obsessive fan isnât healthy at all.
feeling genuinely wronged and/or enraged by a celebrityâs personal life is already a glaring red flag that youâre too personally invested in this person. đŹ letâs take portugalâs recent match against france in the euros as an example: joĂŁo fĂŠlix missed a penalty shot and his comment sections have since been flooded with death threats and hate.
truly, itâs not that deep.
if youâre genuinely distraught by the news of your celebrity crush getting a significant other, reevaluate how deeply your mental health is tied to a public persona. đ¤ł
celebrity obsession is a real problem and social mediaâs rise of influencers is only serving to exacerbate the effects.
