onto today’s topic: “i’m going to enjoy college.” ⭐️

one of the biggest takeaways i got from a year of not doing school was that my whole life isn’t school. that seems obvious, but the difference between my mentality towards school before and after is blatant.

i did indeed enjoy high school, but i hadn’t yet entirely cracked the code for school. i got pretty damn good at it by the end of 12th grade though. school is a monotonous system cycling new classes and exams, so there should be a formula for “success.” 🎯

before moving in on august 19th, i promised myself that i would enjoy college and leave my 4 years (maybe) without regret. i never want to mourn time that i didn’t spend to its fullest.

i’m not doing school because i have to, but rather because i want to, and i’m extremely privileged to feel that way. as a result of my particular circumstance, “success” at school looks like truly enjoying it, and hacking the academic game. 🔎

good grades are simpler than we make them out to be. as soon as you know how you retain information best, you’re locked in. realistically evaluate how well you really need to do, and then shift your focus to the things you really care about: personal projects, clubs, health etc.

no matter what you’re majoring in or how much coursework you have, i can confidently tell you that there’s no need for it to be overwhelming. 😭 i’m double majoring in computer science and business, and minoring in neuroscience. trust, i have assignments and exams too, but if you extract yourself from your impending cloud of pressure to score perfectly on everything, you’ll do a lot better than you might expect.

i’m enjoying college, and am also able to keep all of my priority buckets filled.

enjoy school — you can optimize a lot of it to work for you.
