onto today’s topic: self-expression through fashion 🛍️

i used to be a self-proclaimed “tomboy.” i hated wearing dresses and just thinking of the colour pink. i later realized this was because i thought appearing more feminine and wearing “girly” clothes made me lesser.

i went to a public school without a uniform, free to express myself through what i wore, but i trapped myself into a box and didn’t allow myself this opportunity.

now that i’ve separated myself from that mindset (a long story of its own), i feel so free expressing myself through fashion: switching up aesthetics based on my mood and being fluid, rather than restricting myself to that box. 📦️

i’ve developed a love for thrifting and maximizing my closet potential. finding the perfect piece for an outfit you envisioned is such a sweet feeling. i present myself to the world with my mood and intentionality weaved into the fabric that i wear.

when i want to leave an impression and make sure people remember me, i’m always sure to wear a pair of unique earrings. even if someone doesn’t remember my name on the first try, they’re still left with some sort of of identifier associated with me. 🎯

fashion is truly a statement out into the world, and it’s an extremely easy way to break the ice with someone. sharing thrifting tips, sending fit checks, going down a tangent of how you steal your parents’ old clothes and genuine appreciate for others’ aesthetic. it’s such a great way to bond, because you’re acknowledging someone self-expression, their identity, and who they actually are as a person beyond what they do for work or where they go for school.

i love expressing myself through my clothes and accessories. it’s a huge confidence boost and i’m challenged to invent creative combinations of what i own.

how do you enjoy expressing yourself most?
