onto today’s topic: snow ☃️

my childhood winters were spent rushing out onto the field during recess and building snow forts the size of our grade 3 selves. we would roll snow into dozens of snowmen and have our snow-boots and pants lined up in the hallway like a rainbow reserved just for the winter time. 🌈

as a little kid, we never had to worry about the terrible road conditions or slush lining the house entrance — ignorance was bliss. the first snowfall feels like magic, especially when it sticks. an endless stream of laughter fills the background as snowballs are pelted against one another. it’s so, so cold and our hands are freezing, yet it’s so warm.

my last magical snow day was spent in seoul. yesterday, i experienced snow in chapel hill, which is apparently an extremely rare occurrence. i don’t find that hard to believe at all considering all of the roads were flooded with salt and classes/buses were cancelled due to a forecast of 1-2 inches of snow. 😭 the novelty of a snow day in chapel hill made it all the more enchanting.

i thought it was the cutest thing ever when college kids flooded the campus grounds at the sight of the slightest flurry, trying to catch a taste of a snowflake, laying on the ground to make snow angels, and taking photos of the white specks dusting every inch of unc chapel hill.

i forgot some people truly have never seen snow fall from the sky in their entire lives, my roommate included. 😟 it’s such a magical experience that made up a core of my childhood, and i took it for granted. we spent the whole night walking exploring campus for hours and laughing ourselves into a frenzy as we filled the walk with a snowball fight of 20 people.

i love the snow.
