onto today’s topic: weather while traveling 🌡️

of all the things i imagined swaying my experience while traveling, weather was very low on the list. i don’t know why i completely disregarded this key factor but it ended up dictating my mood for majority of my trips.

our hike up kilimanjaro was filled with torrential downpour and soaked clothes which ended up bearing the brunt of our irritation. dar es salaam was so hot we preferred to just stay in our air conditioned hostel instead of venturing out and exploring — we even called a cab to the supermarket instead of taking on a 10 minute walk, which is completely unlike any of us. 😭 the heat kills you.

seoul was perfect. the weather was chilly but extremely compatible with my outfits which made me even happier. i love dressing up in clothes other than just a tank and shorts (mandatory uniform in the blazing heat). i was also able to walk anywhere comfortably without the heat tiring me out. the one day it did rain for quite a bit, my day felt more restricted but the magical snow the day after made up for it.

thailand was also quite hot, and especially humid in phuket. i found solace in the motorbike rides i would grab solely for the sake of cooling off. 🏍️ i kept the walking to a minimum and found myself with an iced drink in my hand at all times.

surprisingly, hanoi and ha giang in vietnam weren’t hot at all. they were actually very cool. the loop got a little too chilly at times because i was also on a motorbike with wind whipping against my arms at higher altitudes. once i layered up though, everything was all good and i throughly enjoyed the experience even with our short burst of rain on the last day.

these few experiences have made me very quickly realized that i enjoy traveling in cooler climates a lot more than warmer ones.

i arrive at my next destination in 3 days. guess where! ;)
