onto today’s topic: you don’t need to monetize everything 💳️

when did hobbies become synonymous with streams of income?

maybe it’s a hot take, but every interest you have doesn’t need to be a side hustle. you’re allowed to have hobbies and pick up a crochet hook every once in a while without pressure to make money off of it.

it’s great to have a business-oriented approach to different aspects of your life and be entrepreneurial. what i have a problem with is once that mentality turns into thoughts like “if this won’t make me any money, it’s a waste of time.” 😬

i strongly disagree with that take — it’s healthy to pursue hobbies and interests that have no pressure or responsibility associated with them. no pressure to win a competition, book 15 clients for the month, or make $x.

i’m guilty of this, and the end result was me losing interest in a lot of the things i enjoyed doing (ex. embroidery → custom on depop, piano → competitions & prizes). fortunately, i picked up a hobby early on that’s pretty hard to monetize or make ultra-competitive: rollerblading. how do you even monetize that? there weren’t any clubs or competitive teams for it in my area either so it was perfect. 😇

don’t feel stressed that every action you take doesn’t progress your bank account or career. it’s a good thing to have hobbies that are completely stress-free.
