onto today’s topic: i collect pins 📍

it’s not a novel collector’s item, but i make it a point to buy a pin whenever i visit a new country or cool city. some people collect stickers or magnets (family tradition!), and others maybe postcards or bookmarks. for me, it’s cute little pins. :)

i used to fasten all of my pins on the tote bag i carry everywhere with me until i realized i was losing pins and they were falling off (bye bye washington dc and copenhagen … 😞). now, they’re clipped to my camera bag, and i think that’s pretty symbolic.

i’m somewhat of a memory hoarder. i love collecting little trinkets that remind me of different places or experience, and i wrote a full post on that alone here. i just randomly started collecting pins one day, and i don’t actually remember what sparked that. i think i might have amassed a bunch of tech-related pins from a conference in 10th grade and decided that i would grow my collection further.

i carry a piece of everywhere i’ve traveled with me and it’s the easiest conversation starter ever. whether it’s pointing out the miffy pin and talking about cutesy characters or rambling on about dream travel destinations, wearing your interests on your sleeve (or bag) is the best way to unknowingly break ice with others.
